Newsom Jumps Into the Epstein Fray as GOP Splinters Over Trump’s Response

Governor Gavin Newsom has officially entered the Epstein chat, blasting the Trump Administration’s handling of the case and stirring up social media in the process. Whether it’s a political play or genuine outrage, one thing’s clear: the controversy isn’t cooling down.

Attorney General Pam Bondi said today that last week’s memo declining to release files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein “speaks for itself.” Her statement came in response to PresidentTrump’s earlier call for Bondi to release “whatever she thinks is credible.”

Then came the curveball today at the White House: Trump told reporters that the Epstein documents were “made up by Comey and Obama, and uh, made up by the Biden.”

Trump’s comments has only deepened the political divide, with Republicans increasingly split. For the second time this week, House Republicans narrowly blocked a Democratic effort to compel the Justice Department to release the Epstein files, this time by a single vote, 211–210. Governor Newsom, never one to miss a moment, seized the opportunity to turn up the political heat.

ICE Raids on SoCal Cannabis Farms Spark Outrage, Raise Questions

The fallout from last week’s ICE raids at two Southern California cannabis farms has triggered national outrage and mounting scrutiny over both the tactics used by federal agents and the labor practices at the farms themselves.

The Latest

Authorities have not released the warrant behind the operation. So we don’t know the probable cause for the raid. But based on video and first hand reports, ICE agents stormed Glass House Farms facilities in Camarillo and Carpinteria, detaining approximately 360 people suspected of being undocumented immigrants. According to DHS officials, only four had prior criminal records, including convictions for rape and kidnapping.

The raids spiraled into violent clashes and disorder. ICE agents encountered protesters armed with rocks and even one with a handgun. A 57-year-old worker died after falling several stories from a greenhouse structure. No agents were seriously injured.

Unverified Claims About Minors

The Department of Homeland Security released a photo it claims shows juveniles who were working at the site. But key details remain unclear, such as the minors’ exact ages, whether they were accompanied by parents, or the nature of their employment. Under California law, workers must be 21+ to be employed in cannabis operations.

  • No formal charges have been filed against the company, and DHS has yet to provide evidence supporting allegations of trafficking or abuse.

  • The state’s Department of Cannabis Control conducted a site visit in May 2025 and reported no minors present at the time.

First Reported Death of Immigrant in SoCal ICE Raids

The man who died in the farm raids is 57-year-old Jaime Alanis, a longtime worker at the Camarillo site. Alanis died after falling from a greenhouse roof during the ICE operation. His family says he had worked at the farm for more than a decade and was the sole provider for his wife and daughter in Mexico. A GoFundMe has been launched to support his family.

Army Veteran Detained in ICE Cannabis Raid, Not Charged

A disabled U.S. Army veteran is speaking out after being detained during last week’s immigration raid at Glass House Farms in Camarillo.

George Retes told ABC7 Los Angeles that he was taken into custody last Thursday while reporting for his job as a security guard at the cannabis farm. Despite identifying himself as a U.S. citizen and employee, Retes says federal agents broke his car window and grabbed him. Retes claims he was held for three days without charges, without a phone call, without legal access, and without medical treatment.

The US Attorney’s office said it’s reviewing Retes case for potential federal charges.

Homeownership? Better Bring a Big Paycheck

A new report from ConsumerAffairs shows just how out of reach homeownership has become in California.

🏠 Nine of the ten U.S. cities requiring the highest annual salaries to afford a home are in the Golden State.

🏠 With mortgage rates holding steady and prices still climbing, even half a million dollars might not cut it in San Jose and San Francisco.
