Newsom Fires Back After Trump Blames California in Immigration Controversy
Let’s dig into the illegal immigration battle now pulling in California, Florida, and even the White House.
At the center is 28-year-old Harjinder Singh, an undocumented immigrant accused of causing a deadly crash in Florida. Singh was driving a semi-truck about 50 miles north of West Palm Beach, when he allegedly attempted an illegal U-turn. The trailer jackknifed and slammed into a minivan, killing all three passengers.
Here’s where it gets even more complicated: investigators say Singh and his passenger fled to Sacramento the next day. They were arrested in Stockton on August 16 and extradited to Florida.

Politics at Play
The Trump camp is blaming Newsom, claiming Singh entered the U.S. illegally in 2018 through Mexico and then received a California driver’s license in 2021. Newsom’s office hit back on X, pointing out Singh obtained a work permit while Trump was president in 2020—a claim Trump’s team disputes.
Worth noting: California is one of 19 states (plus D.C.) that issue driver’s licenses regardless of immigration status. Supporters say it allows immigrants to work, see doctors, and travel safely.
This is rich.
The Trump Administration approved the federal work permit for the man who killed 3 people — and now they’re scrambling to shift blame after getting caught.
Sean’s nonsense announcement is as big a joke as the Trump Administration itself.

Support for Singh
And despite the political firestorm, support for Singh is growing. More than three million people have signed a petition urging Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to show leniency, arguing the crash was a tragic accident, not a deliberate crime.
Trump Faces Backlash Over Chinese Student Plan
President Trump is facing pushback from some of his own supporters after announcing plans to allow 600,000 students from China into the U.S.
President Trump: “We’re going to allow 600,000 of China’s students to come in.”

Earlier this year, Secretary of State Marco Rubio had pledged to “aggressively” revoke visas for Chinese students, as part of the Administration’s immigration crackdown. The reversal angered MAGA loyalists, especially those who see it as clashing with Trump’s “America First” mantra.
If enacted, Trump’s proposal would mark the largest number of Chinese students ever admitted to the United States.

Controversial ICE Shooting- New Video Released
Newly released surveillance video shows the moment federal agents surrounded a man’s work truck in San Bernardino during a violent detention stop, an encounter that has raised concerns about tactics used in immigration raids.
We’ve already seen cell phone video from inside the truck, which captured masked men smashing both the driver and passenger windows during the traffic stop on August 16. You can also hear gunfire erupting, as one of the masked men began shooting at the truck.
But the new footage shows three unmarked vehicles boxing in Francisco Longoria’s truck. Longoria’s attorney says he drove off fearing for his safety and at that point, one of the masked men opened fire on the passenger side.
Homeland Security tells a different story, they say Longoria struck two officers with his truck and that shots were fired in self-defense. But here’s the problem: the new video that was released doesn’t show any of that.

Newsom Merch Shop
Governor Newsom is back at it with his trolling of President Trump, this time launching what his office calls an online “Patriot Shop.” The site spoofs Trump’s merch operation with satirical goodies like “Newsom Was Right About Everything” hats, “Don’t Poke the Bear” yard signs, and even “Newsom 2026” swag (because, apparently, term limits don’t apply).

The biggest hit so far? Bibles signed by Newsom (a parody twist on Trump’s “God Bless the USA” Bibles). Newsom’s bibles sold out almost instantly.

Learn from this investor’s $100m mistake
In 2010, a Grammy-winning artist passed on investing $200K in an emerging real estate disruptor. That stake could be worth $100+ million today.
One year later, another real estate disruptor, Zillow, went public. This time, everyday investors had regrets, missing pre-IPO gains.
Now, a new real estate innovator, Pacaso – founded by a former Zillow exec – is disrupting a $1.3T market. And unlike the others, you can invest in Pacaso as a private company.
Pacaso’s co-ownership model has generated $1B+ in luxury home sales and service fees, earned $110M+ in gross profits to date, and received backing from the same VCs behind Uber, Venmo, and eBay. They even reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO.

Starting today, the iconic Pumpkin Spice Latte is back at Starbucks along with other fall fan favorites. The good news: Starbucks isn’t raising prices. The bad news: it’ll still set you back more than five bucks.
Not to be outdone, McDonald’s, Krispy Kreme, and Dunkin’ Donuts are also rolling out their own pumpkin-spice menus.
