ICE Storms LA’s MacArthur Park in Unprecedented Show of Federal Force

ICE agents, some on horseback, others in armored vehicles, swept through MacArthur Park today in a dramatic federal raid at the heart of L.A.’s immigrant community.

Border Patrol, backed by DHS minibuses, partially blocked nearby streets. The park, long plagued by rising crime and drug issues, was partially cleared after activists with megaphones reportedly warned locals.

LA Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Newsom swiftly condemned the operation, urging the federal government to pull back the use of the military and to stop targeting immigrant communities.

Welcome Back — Blink Twice and It’s Already July

We’re one week into the back half of 2025. Campaigns are ramping, alliances are shifting, and yes, Vice President JD Vance just spent his weekend in SoCal raising money and eyebrows.

Let’s Get In Sync

Vance spent the 4th in San Diego, attending a string of fundraising events in his role as finance chair of the Republican Party. He also received an award from the Claremont Institute (and a side of protest after a sushi dinner on Sunday night).

On Monday, Vance took part in a previously unreported fundraising roundtable in San Diego. Like many stops on his summer calendar, the event served a dual purpose: raising money for the GOP and building relationships with key donors ahead of a possible 2028 presidential run.

The Vance family is no stranger to San Diego. His wife, Second Lady Usha Vance, grew up there, and the couple has visited often over the years, both officially and personally.

Kamala Harris Leads Early Governor Poll, Most Californians Still Undecided

Vice President Kamala Harris holds a double-digit lead in a hypothetical 2026 California governor’s race, according to new polling from UC Irvine’s School of Social Ecology. But the race remains wide open with voters:

  • Harris with 24% support

  • Businessman Rick Caruso trailing at 9%.

  • 40% of Californians say they’re still unsure who they’d back to replace Governor Newsom.

A new study may have cracked the “Cool” Code. Turns out, no matter where you live, cool people tend to act the same.

Researchers asked people to think of someone they consider “cool” or “uncool”and someone they see as “good” or “not so good.”

The results? If you’ve got these five traits, you’re officially cool.
