‘Revenge Map’ Voting: Lawmakers Clash, GOP Runs to Supreme Court
In Sacramento today, California lawmakers clashed over Governor Newsom’s “Revenge Map” plan.
Reminder: the plan calls for Democrats to redraw California’s U.S. House districts for the 2026, 2028, and 2030 elections. Newsom is looking to take five seats currently held by GOP lawmakers, offsetting any Republican gains in Texas.
Sacramento Showdown
A rambunctious Senate Elections Committee today advanced AB 604 on a party-line vote, sending the redistricting bill to Senate Appropriations. That’s the first step. Lawmakers must still pass a constitutional amendment for the ballot, plus companion bills to lock in the maps, cover the $200 million cost of a special election, and sort out logistics.
They are expected to finalize the plan by Thursday for a November 4 special election.

Potential Problem
Republican lawmakers today asked the state Supreme Court to delay votes, arguing Democrats are violating the state constitution by bypassing a 30-day review period. The GOP wants a pause until September 18, with the court possibly ruling as soon as Wednesday.
NOW: Dhillon Law Group Partner Michael A. Columbo and several CA GOP lawmakers are holding a press conference announcing the first major lawsuit to stop Gov. @GavinNewsom’s / CA legislative Democrats’ redistricting plan.

And if you haven’t been following Governor Newsom online, he’s been in full attack mode, using his social media feeds to hammer the GOP, MAGA, and pretty much anyone aligned with Trump over the redistricting issue..
Trump knows he is going to LOSE in 2026.
His plan to rig new Congressional seats is going to backfire — thanks to California.
Now, he’s clamoring for other ways to cook the results.
This man reeks of DESPERATION.
Let’s keep up the pressure.

Fired Yosemite Biologist Fights for Job After Flag Display
A Yosemite wildlife biologist is rallying support after being fired for displaying a trans pride flag on El Capitan.
Dr. Shannon Joslin, who identifies as non-binary, says they were dismissed for “failing to demonstrate acceptable conduct” following the May 20 demonstration.
The next day, Yosemite officials imposed a new rule banning large flags, banners, or signs from being displayed on the granite wall.
Joslin, who was off duty and hiking with friends at the time, says they are now speaking out against what they call an unfair and discriminatory firing.
“El Capitan has had flags hung on it for decades and no one has EVER been punished for it. Only me. I was fired by the temporary Deputy Superintendent for “failing to demonstrate acceptable conduct” in my capacity as a Wildlife Biologist for the park. No part of hanging the flag was done on work time. NOTHING about it had anything to do with my work.”

Joslin had worked at the park for more than four years and says they want their job back.
According to The New York Times, the Justice Department is also pursuing administrative action against several Yosemite employees and visitors accused of violating federal laws.
Parents of Missing Yucaipa Baby Say They are Cooperating with Investigators
The parents of a missing 7-month-old baby insist they are cooperating with investigators, despite the San Bernardino County Sheriff Department saying otherwise.
Rebecca Haro told deputies she was attacked and knocked unconscious in a Big 5 parking lot last week. When she woke up, her son Emanual was gone.
What We Know
Since then, authorities have searched the area in Yucaipa where Haro claimed the baby disappeared.
Investigators have interviwed the family and also searched their home in Cabazon.
Investigators claim the parents have stopped cooperating after “inconsistencies” emerged with their story.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department says foul play has not been ruled out in Emmanuel’s disappearance, but no suspects have been named.
An attorney for Emmanuel’s father, Jake Haro, says the family continues to work with law enforcement and that Rebecca only refused to take a lie detector test.
Court records show Jake Haro was convicted in June 2023 of felony child cruelty in an unrelated case from Hemet.
