Revenge Maps? Newsom Seeks Voter Cash for Redistricting Blitz
Governor Newsom is weighing a special election this November to push forward a plan to redraw the state’s congressional maps and he’s turning to voters to help fund it.
A new political action committee appears to have been launched in preparation for the redistricting fight, and Newsom’s team began sending fundraising emails today, signaling the start of what could be a high-stakes campaign effort to reshape California’s House districts ahead of 2026.
The Governor says it’s a direct response to Texas and other GOP-led states moving to redraw their redistricting lines and lock in Republican control of the House during the 2026 midterms.
Newsom says California may need to fight back by flipping up to nine GOP-held districts across the state. Voters could weigh in during a special election the first week of November.
Gavin Newsom’s campaign sends out fundraising email this morning on Congressional redistricting.
“We can't stand by and watch democracy, the rule of law, and America’s co-equal branches of government be consistently degraded by Trump.
We're going to fight back.”

Teachers to ICE: Not in Our Schools
They’re calling it the “Summer of Terror”and now, with school starting on August 12, the Los Angeles teachers’ union is vowing to protect immigrant students when they return to class.
On Saturday, hundreds of educators marched through downtown Los Angeles, demanding that LAUSD — the second-largest school district in the nation — do more to shield students from ongoing immigration raids.
Out of LAUSD’s 557,352 students, about 30,000 are immigrants and an estimated 7,500 are undocumented, according to both the district and United Teachers Los Angeles.
ICE Arrests- By the Numbers
The Department of Homeland Security says 2,792 undocumented immigrants were arrested in the Los Angeles area this summer, with the majority of arrests taking place between June 6 and June 22.
And if you’re wondering where California stands in all this: the state ranks third in total arrests during the first six months of President Trump’s term, with most ICE raids and detentions concentrated in Southern border states. Nationally, 42% of those arrested had no criminal history.

Firing the Messenger? Trump Ousts BLS Chief After Bleak Jobs Report
President Trump’s team is struggling to defend his decision to fire Bureau of Labor Statistics chief Erika McEntarfer.

The firing came just hours after the agency released a dismal jobs report on Friday, showing a major slowdown in job growth.
The numbers weren’t pretty: only 73,000 jobs were added to the U.S. economy in July, and previous estimates for May and June were revised downward by more than 200,000.
Trump’s response? Accuse the commissioner of faking the numbers and demand her removal. Off with her head? Not literally. But close enough.

White House National Economic Adviser Kevin Hassett defended President Trump’s decision today, saying the president “wants his own people there.” But so far, the administration has provided no evidence that McEntarfer manipulated or falsified the data.
Meanwhile, California Senator Alex Padilla appeared on NBC’s Meet the Press this morning, calling for an investigation into her firing.

Maybe Trump fired the BLS chief to distract from the on-going Epstein Saga.
Ghislaine Maxwell was transferred to a minimum-security prison camp in Texas also on Friday, just one week after meeting with Trump’s former personal attorney, turned Deputy AG, Todd Blanche. The optics? Not great.
The transfer, from a tougher federal facility in Florida to a camp known for housing women convicted of non-violent and white-collar crimes, sparked immediate backlash from Maxwell’s victims, including Virginia Giuffre’s family.
They released a statement, which read in part:
“It is with horror and outrage that we object to the preferential treatment convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell has received… She physically assaulted minor children on multiple occasions and should never be shown any leniency.”
For context: Maxwell now joins 635 other inmates in a facility where women can move around freely. It's the same type of setting that houses Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah (convicted of wire fraud) and Elizabeth Holmes of Theranos fame (also fraud convictions).Wonder if Maxwell’s next move will be joining their prison-yard workouts?

Financial News Keeps You Poor. Here's Why.
The scandalous truth: Most market news is designed to inform you about what already happened, not help you profit from what's coming next.
When CNBC reports "Stock XYZ surges 287%"—you missed it.
What you actually need:
Tomorrow's IPO calendar (not yesterday's launches)
