Let’s Get in Sync
Groceries are up. Deadlines are looming.
Trump’s tariffs could send prices soaring and the Real ID scramble is set to ruin your week (especially for the ladies).
The REAL ID Countdown Is On
If you haven’t snagged a DMV appointment yet better cross your fingers. May 7 is the federal REAL ID deadline, and those slots are disappearing faster than free samples at Costco.
And for married women? It’s been a paperwork nightmare. Proving a name change isn’t as simple as flashing your ID. Many DMVs are demanding certified marriage certificates. And if you’ve had more than one last name? Yep, they want every one of them.

A Little Deeper
🗓️ Enforcement begins May 7 - You’ll need a REAL ID (or passport) to board domestic flights or enter federal buildings.
💍 Married women face REAL ID hurdles - Some women are being denied IDs because their names don’t match across documents.
📄 Marriage certificate madness - DMVs are demanding original or certified copies of all name changes, which can be hard to track down.
🧾 Decades-old documents - Especially tricky if your marriage certificate (s) is in another state or county.
➡️ Pro tips:
Check your DMV’s requirements now.
There’s no fine if you miss the deadline but you may miss your flight.
Some California DMVs are opening early through June to help.

Tariffs & Your Groceries: Why This Might Be A Smart Budget Move
We went grocery shopping this week, and wow. $8 a pound for grapes. $4.50 for strawberries. And eggs? Don’t even get us started. Turns out, those sky-high prices might get worse before they get better.

Most economists agree: Trump’s new tariff plans won’t lower your grocery bill. In fact, they’re likely to drive prices up. Why? Because American farmers can’t just snap their fingers and flood the market with more food.
Factor in a shaky supply chain, climate swings, and ongoing labor shortages and you’ve got the perfect storm for a brutally expensive grocery run.
🚨Why It Matters
📈 Grocery prices were 2.41% higher in March 2025 compared to March 2024, according to the Consumer Price Index. The biggest year-over-year jump since August 2023.
At a time when national policies are driving prices up, maybe the most radical (and cost-effective) thing you can do is to go local and use a Community Supported Agriculture program.
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)
🌾A CSA is a direct partnership between you and a local farm.
🌾Many CSAs also include add-ons like farm-fresh eggs, bread, grains, flowers, or local honey.
Here’s a general price breakdown:

🔎CSA More Details:
Most full-season memberships range from $300 to $1,000, with many farms offering flexible payment plans or sliding-scale pricing.
You get local, fresh produce often for less than what you’d pay for organic items at the store.
You're supporting sustainable farming and small businesses in your community.

👏 The Call to Action

Before You Go
Catch of the Year
I love a good baseball game and even if you don’t give a hoot, you need to see this play.
In his season debut for the Toronto Blue Jays, Daulton Varsho, the reigning Gold Glove center fielder, wasted no time reminding everyone why he owns that title.
Boston’s Jarren Duran crushed a pitch to deep center. Varsho sprinted back… then tripped and fell! But somehow, somehow… he caught it behind his back while going down.
What. The. What.
Even the Red Sox announcer was stunned:
“Oh my goodness, did he just do that?... A circus catch if you’ve ever seen one.”
