General Testifies Trump’s L.A. Immigration Show of Force Was Practiced for Weeks

What looked like a quick 20-minute show of force in a Los Angeles park is now unraveling in court with testimony revealing it was rehearsed for weeks, coordinated at the highest levels, and aimed squarely at immigrant communities.

What We Know

  • It’s day two in a three-day trial that’s examining whether the deployment of the National Guard and U.S. Marines to Southern California this summer violated the 1878 Posse Comitatus Act, which bars the military from policing domestic affairs.

  • Major General Scott Sherman, a decorated National Guard commander, testified today in that San Francisco courtroom.

  • As the commander who oversaw the Guard and Marine deployment in Los Angeles and also during the MacArthur Park “show of force,” Sherman’s testimony will be central to the trial.

Sherman Testimony Today:

  • Sherman said the National Guard troops rehearsed for three weeks ahead of the operation at MacArthur Park.

  • Sherman said the operation targeted undocumented immigrants and protesters of Trump’s immigration crackdown.

  • The raid was originally planned for Father’s Day (June 15) but moved to July 7 after Sherman warned the park could be crowded.

  • Sherman feared the Father’s Day crowds could overwhelm federal agents, so that prompted the date change.

  • Sherman said the raid was ultimately approved by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem.

  • Sherman said Guard troops were ordered to protect the perimeter of the park and only leave their vehicles if federal agents faced a direct threat.

  • Sherman said Border Patrol’s L.A. leader, Gregory Bovino, questioned Sherman’s loyalty after he raised concerns about tactics and vehicle placement along Wilshire Boulevard.

 More Details

  • About 250 National Guard troops remain in the L.A. area.

  • Governor Newsom has sued Trump Administration, asking the feds to return control of the troops to California.

  • The trial in San Francisco could set a national precedent for how the Trump administration can deploy the military in other states.

California’s Governor Trolls Trump — Again

The trolling from Governor Gavin Newsom to President Trump has reached epic levels. The Governor’s latest post on X is yet another jab. But the question remains: will California voters back Newsom’s so called ‘Revenge Maps’ plan?

In a letter to Trump on Monday, Newsom warned that if the President didn’t call off redistricting efforts in Texas and other GOP states, California will redraw its own congressional lines to favor Democrats, effectively canceling out any Republican gains.

In reality, the threat was more bluster than bite; Trump was too busy flooding D.C. with National Guard troops to focus on the redistricting fight.

Here’s the Landscape:

The “Revenge Map” plan calls for Democrats to redraw California’s U.S. House districts for the 2026, 2028, and 2030 elections. California’s has 52 House seats:

  • 🟦 43 held by Democrats

  • 🟥 9 held by Republicans

  • 🎯 Newsom wants all 52

When the California Legislature returns from summer recess next week, Newsom will need a supermajority in both chambers to approve a special election on November.

Epstein Survivors Set to Speak as Congress Resumes

Congress returns from its August recess right after Labor Day. And today, we got a new warning shot: lawmakers could drop a ‘bipartisan bombshell’ in the Epstein saga.

California Democrat Ro Khanna and Kentucky Republican Thomas Massie will hold a September 3 press conference, that’s the very day lawmakers return to work. At that press conference will be Epstein/Maxwell abuse survivors, some we are told will be women who will speak publicly for the first time.

No doubt a move that could keep the dark cloud over the Trump Administration from clearing anytime soon.
