SoCal Mayors to Trump: Enough

Marines Wait Outside LA For Orders

Trump Calls It Crisis — SoCal Mayors Call BS

Los Angeles city leaders — joined by 30 mayors across Southern California — are demanding an immediate end to ICE raids across the region and calling for the withdrawal of military troops from Los Angeles. The group held a press conference downtown Los Angeles Wednesday, pushing back on the media portrayal of a city in crisis.

Let’s Get In Sync

  • LA has a curfew in place from 8pm to 6am. And it covers just one square mile of downtown (in a city that spans 501 square miles).

  • Right now there are limited protests and no widespread rioting.

  • President Trump has deployed 4,000 National Guardsmen to Los Angeles.

  • About 700 Marines have been activated but they are remaining outside LA and undergoing training.

  • City leaders say the situation doesn’t justify this level of military force. To put in perspective, that’s a heavier military presence than what the U.S. currently has on the ground in Iraq (about 2,500, per the Defense Department).

  • Governor Newsom and California Attorney General Rob Bonta are suing the Trump administration, accusing it of unlawfully federalizing the California National Guard and "trampling over" the state’s sovereignty.

  • Governor Newsom has also blasted the President directly, accusing Trump of choosing “theatrics over public safety.”

  • In the past few days, LAPD have arrested hundreds of people for a range of alleged offenses:

    • Failure to disperse

    • Property damage and theft

    • Molotov cocktails thrown at officers

    • And a motorcycle driven into a police line.

    • Two men have been federally charged for attempting to firebomb officers.

  • ICE has detained 330 people in immigration sweeps across Los Angeles County, including raids in the city of Downey this morning.

ICE Storms Ventura Farms at Daybreak

While national attention zeroed in on Los Angeles, ICE agents quietly raided produce farms to the north in Ventura County.

Farm workers in Oxnard reported agents stormed the fields early Tuesday morning, catching many off guard. Video posted online shows agents chasing workers as they fled through the fields.

Trump’s Military Flex Isn’t Winning Voters

A new YouGov poll shows voters don’t approve of the Trump administration’s move to deploy the National Guard and Marines in response to the Los Angeles protests.

Why it matters: While voters backed Trump’s tough stance early on immigration, many are turning against his more militarized response to the unrest.

Elon Walks It Back

If you're tracking the billionaire soap opera, Elon Musk is suddenly waving the white flag. After implying that President Trump was a “pedo,” Musk posted on X today that he might have gone a little too far.

As for the President, apparently he harbors “no hard feelings” toward Musk for the “Commander-in-Chief in the Epstein files” thing.

Before You Go

Brian Wilson, cofounder of The Beach Boys and the genius behind the band’s surf sound, lush arrangements, and iconic harmonies has died. He was 82.

His life, by all accounts, was one of extraordinary talent and quiet resilience. One of the greatest songs of all times (in my humble opinion) is “God Only Knows”. Rest amongst the stars.
