Good Afternoon, this is what we are following:
💸 Affordability Plan? Still Missing
Six months later, lawmakers still have no plan. Prices are up, fingers are pointing.
🚨 ICE Raid Sparks Outrage across California
Nearly half the staff accused of using fake green cards—no violent records, just flash bangs and protests during dinner.
🏃♀️ Trump vs. Trans Athlete
Trump threatens fines after a transgender athlete wins girls’ state titles. California vows to protect all students.
President Trump today threatened California with massive fines and federal funding cuts after a transgender athlete from Riverside County took home multiple titles in the girls' state track and field championships.
📌The state track and field championship took place in Clovis over the weekend.
📌Transgender student athlete AB Hernandez won first in the high jump and triple jump, and took second in the long jump, prompting outrage from conservatives and a fiery rebuke from Trump, who called it “a disgusting abuse of Title IX.”
📌Bowing to the political pressure, the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) responded by granting podium spots and qualifications to the female athletes who would have placed had Hernandez not competed, effectively requiring Hernandez to share the podium.
📌On Monday, the U.S. Department of Justice stepped in, giving California until June 9 to amend its policies and bar trans athletes from competing in girls’ sports or risk federal consequences.
Today at work… put 1600+ California schools on blast for violating equal protection in girls’ sports. ⚽️ Day is still young.

📌The California AG is pushing back, today releasing a statement vowing to uphold state laws that protect all students from discrimination and harassment.
State leaders vowed to make California more livable. But six months later, it’s still wait-and-see.
Friday marks the first major bill deadline of the year and after months of closed-door meetings and political posturing, lawmakers still have no real plan to tackle affordability.
When pressed for answers, Democratic lawmakers who are the super majority in the state legislature pointed fingers at GOP lawmakers.
Democrats don’t need a single Republican vote to pass reform to help with cost of living in this state. But somehow, they put together a taxpayer-funded word salad blaming the 20 of us.

We’re now learning what led to the explosive ICE raid on a beloved Italian restaurant in the South Park neighborhood of San Diego—one that ended with flash bangs, community protests, and four workers in custody.
QUICK CATCH-UP
On Friday, May 30, during the dinner rush, agents in military-style gear stormed the restaurant. Community members surrounded ICE trucks, chanting “Shame!” in a chaotic showdown. Diners and neighbors looked on as flash bangs were deployed
🔍 SEARCH WARRANT UNSEALED
A now unsealed search warrant includes claims of employment and labor violations against the owner of Buona Forchetta Restaurant.
The warrant states that in November of 2020, a tipster told Homeland Security that Buona Forchetta employed 19 undocumented immigrants, many used false documents to work there.
The complaint claims the owner mistreated these employees, making them work 12-hour shifts without breaks.
A 3-day surveillance operation preceded the raid (May 22, 23, 25).
Signed by Judge Karen Crawford on May 29, the warrant was executed the next day.
Four employees were arrested, none with criminal records, violent histories, or confirmed use of false documents.
An attorney for the owners of Buona Forchetta said they have a copy of the warrant and were working with a lawyer to go through it.
The local backlash was swift, many lawmakers are calling for an investigation. Every member of San Diego’s Democratic congressional delegation condemned the raid. Some blasted the timing, calling it dangerous. Others questioned why a federal judge approved the warrant in the first place.
Montara State Beach, just south of San Francisco, is back open to the public after a shark took a bite out of a surfer’s board and sent him flying into the Pacific.🦈
Jens Heller thought he’d hit a rock until he saw jaws clamped on his surfboard and a shark staring him down. The 42-year-old tried to hit the shark with the board and made a frantic paddle to shore where his wife and baby daughter were watching.
